|
Year of Birth: 1975 Hair: Brown, a few inches past shoulders, straight Eyes: Brown Skin: On the darker side Height: 5'6'' Weight: I don't believe in scales. Right now I'm a size 8. I have skinny arms and legs and a big old butt and a flabby stomach that looks like it holds a small fetus. I detest exercising and laugh scoffingly at myself when I try to diet. I didn't inherit my parents' exercise addictions. I'm trying to follow Weight Watchers, GOD HELP ME, because I think it's a healthy way to eat. Education: B.A. in English, minors in history and journalism; M.Ed. in English education Jobs (past): Waitress throughout college; college summer jobs: wilderness camp counselor in North Carolina, bookstore clerk in Boulder, boat captain at EPCOT; taught high school English for 1 year in Florida Current Job: I work for the state. My job involves lots of research and writing of a specific kind. And that's about all I can tell you as I try not to talk about my job. I like my job, but it doesn't occupy my thoughts when I'm not at work, because I refuse to let it. That's a big reason I quit teaching. Home: Three bedroom house purchased in April of 2001. My roommate of 2 years got married, and I was tired of renting. Plain on the outside, cute on the inside, though crying to be painted bright colors. Large backyard for dogs. Sometimes I fear I shall have to sell my body to afford the note. Pets: 2 insane dogs and 2 lovely and lazy cats. Car: 2000 Honda Civic Coupe EX named Sylvia. All I wanted was a sunroof and a CD player, and it had both, so I bought it. My car is essentially my trash can, and after more than 10 years of driving, I doubt this will ever change. Hobbies: Reading kids' books and trashy magazines, writing in my journal, movies, and inordinate amounts of television. Favorite Books: Anything and everything by Madeleine L'Engle, E.L. Konigsburg, or Sharon Creech. Or Pat Conroy. (I'm sorry. It's true.) Holes. The Harry Potter series. L.M. Montgomery. The Prydain Chronicles. Some of these I've read zillions of times, and some are new finds. Favorite Poets: Dorothy Parker, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Walt Whitman, John Keats, Wordsworth, T.S. I fail a lot. Religion: I was raised as Catholic as Catholic can be in a city with lots of Catholic churches and Catholic schools and Catholic people and Catholic influences. I currently alternate between craving God and mass and faith in general and respecting my family members for their devout beliefs ... and thinking it's all a bunch of horseshit. Random things I like: Lying in the sun even though I know it's bad for me, raspberry mocha frappuccinos and coke icees, the sound my dog makes when she yawns, the sigh she lets out right before she falls asleep, columbines Foods I Didn't Eat for Many Years Until Recently: Beef, pork Reason: I just thought beef and pork were gross. Basically I still do, but the week of September 11, 2001, I found myself sitting at my parents' kitchen table devouring a bowl of spaghetti and meat sauce that my mom made. I'm still not sure what came over me. I hadn't eaten beef in eight years. Prized Possessions: Rings inherited from grandmothers, both valuable and not, and my grandmother's Shakespeare and Chaucer texts from her years and years and years as an English professor I Still Sleep With: My baby blanket Favorite Food: Sushi rolls and ice cream, all flavors, all the time Favorite Smell: Lavendar and wet pine needles Stupid Infomercial Purchase: Ronco Food Dehydrator Favorite TV Theme Songs: The Facts of Life, Family Ties, Greatest American Hero, Welcome Back Kotter, One Day at a Time, Mr. Belvedere, Punky Brewster (I know. Really, anything salty and loaded with carbs. Favorite Nut: Pistachio. What am I saying? I love all nuts and would eat a can of mixed nuts every single day if I could. Fruit or Vegetables? Vegetables Favorite Drink: Jack and coke. Beer. I'm just classy like that. Friends: I've had most of the same friends for a really long time. Romantic State: Single and adjusting.
