I slept poorly last night and dragged myself out of bed at 5:30 to head to the gym. My memory of the run is hazy because I was barely awake, but I do know that it was probably the hardest run so far and that I somehow accidentally deleted Kelly Clarkson and almost cried because I was so counting on her getting me through the last few minutes. Thankfully I had Idina Menzel as backup. My favorite song from today's run was "That Thing You Do" from the movie of the same name. It's very catchy and upbeat and has a good rhythm for my "stride." Also, I was encouraged not to collapse (like I wanted to) by remembering that glorious moment when Liv Tyler hears the song on the radio for the first time and starts shrieking and flailing ecstatically down the street. How beautiful! I love that part. Big Gay Al was also very helpful. I went to the doctor this morning. She encouraged me to keep taking the medication and gave me a big bag of samples and told me to keep another diary now that I'm on the medication. (Sigh.) She then said that I do drink a buttload of water and to consider cutting back a bit -- but that the amount I produce overnight is a lot even for someone who does drink a lot of water, especially considering that I cut off liquid intake pretty early in the evening. Next time she'll do some kind of scan and test my flow pattern, whatever the hell that means. Last night's project was to make these treats, which I first read about here, for my boyfriend's birthday. I am here to tell you. You should make these. Today. I used sugar cookie dough, and I disregarded the part of the recipe that said that you should let the dough come up over the edges for 1/4 inch or whatever. My dough slices just weren't big enough to do that, so I stopped it at the top of the muffin cup in the pan. It still rose above the top and made little edges so just know that. These were so easy and fun to make, and they are SCRUMPTIOUS. Like, melt in your mouth fantastic. God. I wish I were eating one right this minute.
This weekend we're celebrating the birthday and getting massages and going on a moonlight canoe trip through the swamp. It should be good. About this time in ...
