Random Recs

Here are some random things that I recommend. (I have to write something mindless for a few minutes or my head will surely explode.)

Shampoo: Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree. I dig it the most, and it will clear your sinuses to boot.

CD: eastmountainsouth has been in my CD player nonstop for about a solid month. It was a late birthday gift, and I love it. I bought it for my sister, and now she loves it. The voices of the singers are gorgeous, the songs are haunting, and some of them will just squeeze your heart until it's about to burst. I dare you to listen to "Hard Times" and not get instantly addicted and claim it as your theme song. And I double dare you to listen to "On Your Way" and not get goosebumps while simultaneously feeling suicidal from the beauty. It's so weird how quickly music you've never heard before can become a part of you. Actually, that's not true. I had heard one song on the album, "So Are You to Me," because it played in my favorite ABC Family movie of all time, Lucky 7, starring Kimberly Williams Paisley and my own, my beloved Patrick Dempsey. (Shut it.) But I didn't have the whole CD until recently, and I love it with all of my ever-loving heart.

Packaged snack: Jello fat free devil's food pudding, or: crack.

TV show: The season finale of The O.C. is on tonight, and my butt will be superglued to the couch. Tomorrow night I'm attending a Friends finale party where I predict I will drink too much wine and weep like a baby even though I haven't truly laughed at this show since Joey's did lunges while asking if he could be wearing any more clothes. This weekend, I will rent season 2 of The Office and watch it all night long, because I plan to spend all day outside because I sadly feel like I am missing spring altogether by working so much.

Breakfast cereal: I really, really love Smart Start. Every day I eat it with a couple of Morningstar veggie sausage links on the side.

SNL skit: Apparently I'm not the only one who thought the Debbie Downer meltdown was butt-assed funny as SHIT.

Book: I just finished rereading The Secret Life of Bees, and it was even better this time around.

TV show on DVD: Party of Five season one arrives today, and I am retardedly excited about it.

Chocolate: I just had my first Hershey's nugget with both almonds and toffee, and I almost passed out. (Note: I am not a chocolate snob. Dark chocolate makes me puke. Hershey's is just alright with me.)

Song: I know I've talked about this song before, but I really just do not think that there is any song that makes me happier when I am singing along with it in the car than Ellis Paul's "The World Ain't Slowing Down." It's impossible for it not to cheer you up.

Another Trashy Snack: Chex mix, but not the normal kind. The kind with raisins and miniature M&Ms in it. It is fantastic! It makes me think of the only thing I ever liked about Brownies, which was the trail mix. It is trail mixey goodness.

Frozen dinner: I submit that you cannot beat this or finish eating it for lunch without closing your office door and licking the black plastic dish.

About this time in ...

2003:

5/5:

As in, shit, it only cost $5 to get in, and that is awesome, but it's hot. So hot. And we can hardly breathe. And this must be what bikram yoga is like. And we've sweat out five pounds each. And look, there's our sweat glistening on the dirty floor.

2002:

5/5:

I'm just exhausted by the process, and I miss my sister and I wish I were with her and with my brother and my friends listening to the music that I love on a blanket with a beer -- in a city of a thousand festivals, at my favorite festival of all.

2000:

5/4:

I didn't catch much of Felicity because my roommates insisted that we give Party of Five its proper final respects, but I did catch Felicity telling Ben that she doesn't want him in her life anymore. Sure, Felicity. You're so convincing. We know you're kind of an idiot, but it doesn't take a nuclear scientist to calculate the pros of choosing Ben over that gnarly Greg creature.

If you know of a clean, convenient, affordable hotel in Paris, won't you let me know? (Thanks to those who've written so far! I've bookmarked links to all the ones you've suggested. Y'all rock.)
