Wake up, LA!

Ah, exposed patrons of prostitution rings. The man who -- (a) while our country was at war and and (b) less than a year after his city and his state had been crushed by two hurricanes -- said of banning gay marriage, "I don't believe there's any issue that's more important than this one." Way to go in your effort to preserve the sanctity of marriage, you dumbass.

I called my sister to tell her this news just now and she said, "I'VE HAD ENOUGH! Maybe this will convince our state to go blue all the way." One can only hope.

In 2000, Vitter was included in a Newhouse News Service story about the strain of congressional careers on families.

His wife, Wendy, was asked by the Newhouse News reporter: If her husband was as unfaithful as former President Bill Clinton, would she be as forgiving as Hillary Clinton?

“I’m a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary,” Wendy Vitter told Newhouse News. “If he does something like that, I’m walking away with one thing, and it’s not alimony, trust me.”

God, no kidding.

As a former conservative and the wayward daughter of a family of very right-wing republicans, I always have two reactions to news like this. One is a sinking feeling. As much as I feel instinctively that these perfect God-fearing men are just facades, it still hurts a little to see how true it is (perhaps I'm hurting for my family?). But I also feel angry. Why the lies?
